Building or industrial automation applications are getting popular nowadays, and the main
issues of an automatic system are safety, cost and performance. Many automatic
monitoring applications desire wireless sensor network solutions since they require
significantly less cost in installing the required lines and result in additional functions such
as smart sensing and easy to scale and extend. Based on the ZigBee wireless network
technology, III has developed a long thin wireless sensor network service platform which
focuses on the applications of automatic monitoring the long and narrow regions such as
railroads, mining, power lines and pipes. Highlights :
- Support the mesh network architecture.
- Support Hi-Power enhanced 802.15.4 module which allows at most 500M point-to-point communication.
- Each single PAN can serially connect at most 64 communication router nodes. The maximal length of each PA is 31.5 kilometers. (depends on geographical features and outside interferences)
- The communication router nodes equip with MCU for the inputs from sensors and for sending controls to sensors.
- The power consumption of the communication router nodes is low and an AAA or a solar battery is sufficient for a communication router node.
- Each long thin wireless sensor network equips with at least one gateway which connects the long thin network with the IP Network such as GPRS, WCDMA, Ethernet, …, etc. The backend service system is allowed to directly access the communication router nodes in the long thin wireless sensor network through the IP Socket.
Benefits:
- The network architecture is simple and the network is easily setup.
- The computational power of the CPU need not be high, and hence the hardware cost can be further reduced.
- Low power consumption with small size, and can be easily integrated with different devices.
- Provide real-time communication service which significantly increases the sampling rate of the sensors.
